The Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort Study

Ted Reichborn-Kjennerud is professor of psychiatric epidemiology at the University of Oslo, and director of the Department of Genetics, Environment and Mental Health at the Norwegian Institute of Public Health.

He has been involved in large population-based studies of neurodevelopmental disorders in the Norwegian Mother and Child Cohort Study (MoBa) since 2001, and has served in the MoBa leader group.

The projects currently ongoing include two large case-control studies on autism and ADHD with similar design, which include extensive clinical assessments at age 3. Other studies, utilizing data from MoBa linked to the Norwegian Patient Registry, on ADHD, eating disorders and early onset psychoses, are ongoing or under way. A large number of exposures during pregnancy, from environmental toxins to infections, will be studied.

For more than ten years Reichborn-Kjennerud has also bees leading a large longitudinal population-based twin study of common mental disorders and personality disorders.
